I've no doubt that regular readers, particularly Gaz, will have been wondering about the latest news from our bird box. After this post a couple of months back, we had high hopes for some nesting action. It turned out that the batteries on the camera drained faster than a broken bath which meant we had no signal for a while, but we're now plugged in and back in action.
So what's happening in there? We're not sure, is the honest answer. A pair of blue tits can regularly be seen flying in and out, and once in there they do lots of pecking at the entrance hole and scrabbling about.
But there's no sign of any actual nest material yet, let alone eggs.
There's another two nest boxes elsewhere in the garden and they keep flying into those too. It was always a gamble choosing where to put the camera and it could be that there is far more of interest going on in one of the others.
